Carey Lai, Founder Member and Managing Director of Conductive Venture

Carey Lai is a founding team member and Managing Director at Conductive Ventures, an enterprise software and hardware fund. He leads the firm’s software investments where he specializes in software as a service (SaaS). Carey has over 17 years of venture capital and technology experience.
Prior to Conductive Ventures, Carey spent over 4 years investing at Intel Capital focused on Internet and enterprise software companies. His portfolio included 500Friends (acquired by Dentsu), Box (BOX), BrightEdge, Gigya (acquired by SAP), Kabam (acquired by Netmarble), Nexmo (acquired by Vonage), Onefinestay (acquired by AccorHotels), Sprinklr, and SweetLabs.
Prior to Intel Capital, Carey worked at Institutional Venture Partners (IVP) where he focused on rapidly growing later-stage and growth-equity investments in Internet & enterprise software companies. He actively worked with the following IVP portfolio companies: ArcSight (ARST), At Road (ARDI), Business.com (DEXO), Concur (CNQR), Cortina Systems, Danger (MSFT), Data Domain (EMC), Mobile365 (SAP), SuccessFactors (SFSF), Synchronoss (SNCR) and Yodlee (YDLE).
Carey also worked in the Technology Investment Banking Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as an Investment Banking Analyst focused on the software and financial technology sectors. His transaction experience included offerings for some of the leading technology companies in the world, including Blackbaud Software (BLKB), Computer Associates (CA), Hewlett Packard (HPQ), Sungard Data Systems (SDS), and Tibco Software (TIBX).
Earlier in his career, Carey worked at eBay in Business Development.
Carey has an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He also graduated with a B.A. in International Economics from the University of California Los Angeles.

Joseph currently runs his family office, Turn Capital. Turn Capital was established in 2020 and seeks to invest in and / or acquire companies across stages, supporting founders and management with operational expertise, together with its venture and private equity partners. Ticket sizes range from US$500k to US$5m for venture investments, to >US$10m for private equity investments.
Prior as CEO and now Chairman, Joseph led the merger of Paktor, the leading regional dating group, and 17 Media, the global leader in livestreaming entertainment. M17 Group (now known as 17LIVE) was officially established in 2017. Joseph co-founded Paktor in 2013 while completing his M.B.A., and served as CEO of Paktor from 2013 to 2017.
He previously held positions in the consulting and banking industries, at McKinsey & Company and Citigroup, and spent a few years in luxury retail with Da Vinci Asia, based in Shanghai and Beijing, China, from 2008 to 2011, where he oversaw nationwide operations for the company’s fine watch and jewelry businesses.
Joseph holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University.

Mr. Graylin is the China President at HTC leading all aspects of HTC’s business in the region (Vive/VR, phone, Viveport content platform, partnerships and investments) and the company’s XR Suite Business globally. He is also currently Vice-Chairman of the Industry of Virtual Reality Alliance (IVRA.com) with 300+ company members, President of the $18B Virtual Reality Venture Capital Alliance (VRVCA.com) and oversees the Vive X VR Accelerators (VIVEX.co) in Beijing, Shenzhen and Tel Aviv. Mr. Graylin is a sought after speaker and thought leader in the areas of VR/AR, AI, Entrepreneurship, and doing business in China by events and media globally.

Mr. Graylin has over 28 years of business management experience in the tech industry, including 20 years in Greater China. Prior to HTC, he was a serial entrepreneur, having founded four venture-backed startups in the mobile and internet spaces, covering mobile social, adtech, search, AI, big data and digital media. Additionally, he has held $100+ million P&L roles at a number of public companies.
