MOX has from Sept 2018 moved its main office as part a new partnership with Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA), a major government initiative designed to consolidate the major players in Taiwan’s startup ecosystem.
Taiwan Tech Arena is spearheaded by Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) –– a cabinet-level ministry –– and consists of a sprawling campus on two floors of the Taipei Arena sports and entertainment complex. Other key players inside TTA include SparkLabs Taipei, BE Accelerator, IAPS FutureWard and other leaders in Taiwan’s startup scene.
“We are so excited to be part of TTA,” says MOX Program Director Ching-Ping Lin. “As a start-up hub in the city center, TTA is going to allow us to expand our community and more easily collaborate with other accelerators and partners because we’re neighbors now. We can attend all sorts of great events by just walking downstairs or have a quick coffee with someone passing through. It’s great for us and for our start-ups.”
A total of 52 startups (29 from Taiwan and 23 from other countries) will be stationed at TTA by the end of September 2018 and MOST hopes that the number can increase to 100 by the end of the year. Accelerators will provide startups with business training, mentoring, development and growth strategies, and in some cases direct investment.
